Rice also continues downward in the region. A kilo of beans costs on average R$ 7.06. "This is nothing new in this period and should also be tapped," says Benedetto.

After months of high, reaching cost up to R$ 5, beans finally shows signs of stability. For the first time this year, a kilogram of grain is costing less than R$ 3. In the weekly survey of basic food basket, made by Crais (Integrated Supply Regional Company of St. Andrew), the item recorded average price of R$ 2.78 this week - 6.16% lower than the previous week.
The grain, which became the villain of the shopping cart since January, should continue to fall in coming months, according to the director of the Grain Exchange of São Paulo, Rui Roberto Russomano. "The offer currently has been greater than demand. Thus, the trend is that the price becomes stabilized."
Russomano explains that the grains that feed Sao Paulo out of the State of Minas Gerais and also the rains and the start of the year disrupted production, which only begins to recover now. "São Paulo and Minas Gerais are responding well. In Sao Paulo, when the rains began, the price was low and was close to the producing region, so that the supply was restricted. But it was recovered," attests.
Despite the low this week and stability that is moving, the director tells you that next week the price may go home the R$ 3. "In the early months, it is natural that to happen. Consumption is always greater. People are going more to the supermarket and replenish the stocks of home. This heats the high demand and can bring, but even so, there will be a threat."
